Apple Wireless Keyboard Bluetooth Prefs And

I had to go to Bluetooth prefs and either search for it again or delete the pairing and re-pair it.

I wonder if AppleCare will cover this (although the sinking feeling in my stomach is telling me.

Turned out there it was dead and there was nothing we could do (tried new batteries, tried it on multiple systems, etc).

At 59 for a damn keyboard they had better replace it but I know of course they wont.

Turns out the recharable NiMHs I had in there are only 1.2 V, not 1.5 - even though it has worked with those same batteries for the past several months.

I guess Ill need to buy some more recharables and pay closer attention this time.

And, even better news, they finally acknowledged that the Airport card is malfunctioning and ordered a new one.

Would have been great if they just serviced it the first time around.

You can put a battery on a greater draw device, like you have done, and it will destroy the battery, which is what happened to you.

Use a good lithium disposable battery, like an Energizer e2, which is what Apple provides in the box.

I have them charging up now and Ill see if I can use them in some other device, or whether they really have been draineddestroyed for good.

Ill need to read up on NiMH vs Lithium vs whatever else there is, but man do I hate spending so much cash on throw-away batteries.

It just turns out that the batteries Apple shipped it with were so much lighter than the ones I had in my wireless pro mouse.

You will be supplying the right voltage to the keyboard, and will avoid overheating due to overdrawing the rechargeables.

When I worked in sales I saw some pretty nasty damage to devices when people used rechargeables in a high-draw device.

If you absolutely must use rechargeables, check the manual for the keyboard first.

If it says dont use rechargeables, and a lot of things advise against it, dont.

Ill need to dig up the manual but I know it would eat through convential batteries at an astounding pace, prompting me to buy the recharables.
